(We will be in the part of the park near the Golf Course not the side you have to pay to enter) Rett Syndrome is a neurological disorder on the Autism Spectrum, seen primarily in females. It affects speech, hand skills and coordination. These individuals may also suffer from seizures, irregular breathing and curvature of the spine. In spite of the challenges they face on a daily basis these children enjoy life, relationships with family and friends and being a part of their communities. The proceeds from this event directly contribute to the organizations ability to fund research for treatments and a cure and enhance the overall quality of life for those living with Rett and their families by providing information, programs, and services. The pace towards treatments and a cure for Rett syndrome has accelerated. Prominent researchers in labs around the world are working to unravel the mysteries of this devastating disorder and the excitement is tangible. Rett is considered a Rosetta stone disorder because more widespread neurologic disorders may also benefit from our discoveries. For more information visit... www.rettsyndrome.org |
